Assalammu’alaikum all,
A Hadith to be shared.
Narrated ‘Abdullah (bin Mas’ud):
Allah’s Apostle said (to me), “Recite the Qur’an to me.” I said, “Shall I recite (it) to you while it has been revealed to you?” He said, “I like to hear it from another person.” So I recited Surat An-Nisa (The Women) till I reached the Verse: ‘How (will it be) then when We bring from each nation a witness, and We bring you (O Muhammad) as a witness against these people.’ (4.41) Then he said to me, “Stop!” Thereupon I saw his eyes overflowing with tears.
SubhanAllah, from this Hadith, we can learn two things.
One is that, the Prophet s.a.w. himself liked to hear another person reciting the verses of the Al-Quran, which shows just how much he advocated the recitation of the Al-Quran.
Also, we learn how the Prophet s.a.w. himself was touched by the great verse sent down by Allah s.w.t. Should we not learn by example and ponder over the verses which were revealed to the Prophet and then to us?
Build a relationship with Al-Quran in order for you to build a closer relationship with Allah s.w.t, and also Rasulullah s.a.w.
`Aishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “The one who is proficient in the recitation of the Qur’an will be with the honourable and obedient scribes (angels) and he who recites the Qur’an and finds it difficult to recite, doing his best to recite it in the best way possible, will have a double reward.”
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
Masya Allah, how do we not realize how Merciful and Most Forgiving Allah is? The rewards he is offering to us just by reading the Al-Quran is bountiful. Allah even tells us through our Rasulullah s.a.w., that just by striving to read the Al-Quran, we receive more reward than those who are proficient in reciting the Al-Quran with the proper Tajwid. However, it is not for those who are proficient to be complacent, rather to be thankful that Allah has bestowed a gift of proficiency in reciting the Al-Quran.
Note: Al-Kitab is another name for the Al-Quran.

[All] praise is [due] to Allah , who has sent down upon His Servant the Book and has not made therein any deviance. [Al-Kahfi:Verse 1]

Ibn `Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said: “Envy is justified in regard to two types of persons only: a man whom Allah has given knowledge of the Qur’an, and so he recites it during the night and during the day; and a man whom Allah has given wealth and so he spends from it during the night and during the day.”
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
Envy, a feeling mentioned countless times before to be non permissible in Islam. However, looking at how envying those who reads the Quran day and night makes the feeling justified, shows just how important and valuable this daily ibadah is in our lives as a Muslim.
Let’s strive to do better in this ibadah, to Love The Book of Allah.

“Uthman bin `Affan (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “The best amongst you is the one who learns the Qur’an and teaches it.”
[Al-Bukhari]
Should we not then strive to be the best of the Ummah of Rasulullah s.a.w?
Note: Al-Furqan is another name for the Al-Quran, and also, the name of a Makkan surah in the Al-Quran.
Abu Umamah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying, “Read the Qur’an, for it will come as an intercessor for its reciters on the Day of Resurrection.” [Muslim]
SubhanAllah, from this Hadith, we see the excellence of reading the Al-Quran, and what better way to achieve this excellence than to regularly read the Al-Quran, and at the same time, learn to a certain extent the way our Prophet s.a.w. read it?
Thus, brothers and sisters from NTUMS, should we miss out on a wonderful opportunity to do just that?
